Join The Greek Herbalist on the lush island of Corfu for 6 immersive days with the Greek landscape. Learn about native medicinal plants and herbal traditions on botanical hikes, including on Mt. Pantocrator, the highest mountain in Corfu. Enjoy a relaxing stay on an award-winning organic olive oil farm. Visit treasured places and be inspired by the season of colorful springtime blossoms.

This tour involves slow-paced hiking on uneven, uphill and downhill terrain. Participants must be comfortable being on the mountain for up to approximately 3 hours for each hiking excursion.

This tour will take place with a minimum of 4 participants.

  • 5:30pm - Herbal Corfiot traditions with Eleni Christoforatou

Day 3: Tuesday, May 28

  • 9:30am - Botanical hike on Mt. Pantocrator

  • 2pm - Group lunch

  • 5pm - Learning about ancient Greek olive oil with The Greek Herbalist

  • 7pm - Group dinner in Old Town

Day 4: Wednesday, May 29

  • 10am - Olive oil tasting & farm tour at Dr. Kavvadia’s

  • 12pm - Olive oil salve-making workshop with Eleni Christoforatou

  • 2pm - Group lunch

  • 3pm - Botanical hike at Nymphes

  • 8pm - Group dinner

Day 5: Thursday, May 30

  • 10am - Learning about ancient Greek herbal medicine with The Greek Herbalist

  • 1pm - Group lunch

  • 2pm - Botanical hike at Aphionas

  • 5pm - Free time / beach

  • 7pm - Group dinner

Day 6: Friday, May 31

  • 10am - Donkey Rescue Farm

  • 11am - Botanical hike at Angelocastro

  • 2pm - Group lunch + final reflections

  • 4pm - Tour ends

Choose your room on the olive farm

Register with a non-refundable €500 deposit and make your room selection in one of the farm houses at Dr. Kavvadia’s Organic Farm, a producer of an award-winning extra-virgin olive oil. Breakfast includes fresh vegetables, eggs, and olive oil from the farm.

Olive Storage House

The Olive Storage House is the oldest building on the farm, dating back from the beginning of the 19th century. Over the years it was used to store olive oil, and now it is transformed into a house. It includes two bedrooms, a large living room, and mounds of garden under the shadow of centuries old olive trees. The outdoor area is equipped with dinning table, hammocks, and easy chairs. This house is designed for total relaxation.

Dafni’s Stable

Dafni’s Stable used to be the farm’s stable, where all farm animals were kept. Dafni turned it into a home 40 years ago. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 wc, 2 living rooms, a front and back terrace, and its own private garden equipped with hammocks and easy chairs for total relaxation.

Private room with bathroom: €3,150 (single) or €2,900 (shared / per participant)

  • Travel insurance (highly recommended)

After you make your deposit, two invoices will be sent to you for half of the remaining balance to be paid by January 15, 2024 (invoice #1) and the other half to be paid by March 15, 2024 (invoice #2). Payments are accepted by any credit card or PayPal. Any fees for currency conversion are to be paid by the registrant. For refunds, invoice #1 can be fully refunded by January 30, 2024 or earlier. After January 30, 2024, invoice #1 can be refunded 50% until February 26, 2024. No refunds after March 30, 2024, but transfers to interested participants is possible. All participants must read and agree to our Booking + Cancellation Policy.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

Tour activities are co-led by Maria Christodoulou (The Greek Herbalist) and local herbalist Eleni Christoforatou

Maria Christodoulou is a clinical herbalist exploring the wisdom and whimsy of ancient Greek herbal medicine. Based in Athens, Greece, she offers educational herbal tours throughout the country and virtual courses based on the bounty of medicine and folklore of her ancestors. She is the author of “The Greek Herbalist's Guide to the Mountain” (2023) and "The Greek Herbalist's Guide to the National Garden, Athens" (2022). Maria is the lead coordinator of the Herbalists Without Borders - Athens, Greece Chapter.

For more than ten years, Eleni Christoforatou has taught classes on herbal medicine, led herbal walks, harvested plants, and made salves, syrups, tinctures and all kinds of herbal preparations with natural ingredients. Eleni is a graduate of David Winston's Center For Herbal Studies and the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine. She has lived on Corfu for more than 20 years during which the beauty of the island’s nature has shaped her path to live a life close to the wild plant communities of the area.

Eleni manages the Nature’s Library, an initiative of the Mushroom Association of Corfu and the Educational & Cultural Association of Sinies, which is collecting books on herbal medicine and medicinal mushrooms. To donate an herbal medicine book to the Nature’s Library project, contact Eleni. Donated books become part of the main collection of the Public Central Historic Library of Corfu.
